Biodiversity

Basic Approach

We recognize that all of our business activities depend on the blessings of the natural world, while also having an impact on it. Based on this awareness, we strive to conserve rich biodiversity.

Oisix Group Biodiversity Policy

Under our corporate philosophy, "Farm for Tomorrow, Table for Tomorrow," we deeply appreciate the "blessings of food" brought by the diverse ecosystems of the natural world. To ensure that these blessings continue to be provided for future generations, we are committed to maximizing our consideration for biodiversity throughout our business activities. We have established this Biodiversity Policy to contribute to achieving a nature-positive and sustainable society. This policy applies to all business activities of the Group, and we also require our business partners, including suppliers, to understand and cooperate with this policy.

1. Biodiversity Risk Assessment

We regularly assess the risks our business activities pose to biodiversity and our level of dependence on it to identify challenges to biodiversity conservation. Furthermore, when developing large-scale farms or establishing new business sites, we conduct environmental impact assessments on the biodiversity of the surrounding areas in advance.

2. Consideration for High-Value Biodiversity Areas

We will not engage in any business activities that adversely affect the natural environment within internationally protected areas—such as World Natural Heritage sites and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) categories—as well as nationally designated protected areas. When operating in areas critical for biodiversity conservation, we strive to minimize our impact based on the mitigation hierarchy of priority: Avoid, Minimize, and Restore.

3. Responsible Raw Material Procurement

We strictly comply with international treaties and laws, such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and we do not handle raw materials derived from endangered species or illegally harvested wildlife. We promote the procurement of raw materials produced with consideration for the biodiversity of the production regions.

4. Collaboration with Stakeholders

We collaborate with stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, and business partners, to promote social initiatives for biodiversity conservation. At our business sites and raw material procurement sites, we work to create an environment where nature and humans thrive in harmony, through dialogue and cooperation with local residents and communities.

5. Education

We promote understanding of biodiversity conservation among all officers and employees of the Group, business partners, customers, and local residents at our business sites and raw material procurement sites through environmental education and other initiatives.
